If you want a smaller, efficient SUV, you have plenty of choices. Mercedes-Benz offers two: the GLB and GLC. As two of the better-selling SUVs in the lineup, both the GLB and GLC offer plenty of everything for those not looking to go bigger. They are right-sized for families just starting out on their own. They also provide plenty of practicality, technology, engineering, safety, and the level of luxury expected in a Mercedes-Benz.
If it were your money, which one would you choose?
The GLB offers practicality based on its more upright roofline. That is usually an invitation to fill the cargo hold with shopping or luggage. In all, it can carry up to 62.0 cubic feet of what you need to bring with you. It also can be equipped with three rows of seats.
Power comes from a 221-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with a mild hybrid drive and an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. For improved traction, you can also opt for 4MATIC® all-wheel drive. The GLB is also efficient, with fuel economy figures up to 33 MPG on the highway.
For those looking for more performance, there is an AMG® option for the GLB. The driveline is enhanced with a 302-horsepower version of the turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a hybrid assist, along with the SPEEDSHIFT® dual-clutch transmission to make your heart skip a beat or two.
Above all, the GLB offers greater value for what it can do for you. Its smaller footprint makes driving around town easier. Parking is also easy, especially in tighter spaces and on the street. The longer roof can also accommodate many larger items in the cargo hold.
The classic GLC offers compact proportions and a sleeker look. However, it still wears all of the trademarks of a Mercedes-Benz. It is worth noting that there are two body styles available – the SUV and a Coupe SUV. Both offer comfortable space for up to five people inside. Maximum cargo space available with the rear seats down comes up to 56.3 cubic feet for the SUV.
The GLC also offers a broader choice of power sources, such as the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, which offers more power at 255 horsepower. You can opt for a plug-in hybrid driveline with 313 horsepower and an all-electric range of 54 miles. Two AMG® versions are available: a 416-horsepower turbocharged engine with hybrid assist and a 671-horsepower hybrid turbocharged engine. Most models offer the 4MOTION® all-wheel drive system.
The GLC offers choice—not just in body styles and performance options but also in how you specify them. It also delivers usable technology, such as a larger touchscreen for the Mercedes-Benz User Experience and more driver assistance features. It still commands the road with a driving experience found only in a Mercedes-Benz.
Both the GLB and GLC offer so much. Both carry the three-pointed star and all of its legacy. No matter which one you choose, contact us at Mercedes-Benz of Plano so we can show you both of these SUVs and help you choose the right one for you.
