The World Car Awards jury paid attention to what we were doing. The result was the awarding of the World Luxury Car Award to the new 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
Ninety-three jurors from 28 countries around the world examined each and every entry. The verdict came as their votes were tabulated by KPMG before the live announcement of our flagship sedan to this great award.
This is not our first World Luxury Car award. It was the fourth for Mercedes-Benz in the 17-year history of these global awards. This is the second time the S-Class was awarded by this jury.
The new 2021 S-Class won because it is the most advanced sedan ever crafted by Mercedes-Benz. It also serves as a showcase of things to come from us. Technologies, such as PRE-SAFE Impulse Side protection and E-Active Body Control suspension are designed to mitigate collisions that are far too often seen on the streets across the Metroplex.
Advanced features that the jury was impressed by the S-Class, include a system that enables predictive compliance with speed limits, while another displays the operating principle of the driver assistance systems in full. Rear passengers have an additional airbag that is deployed in severe frontal collisions in a gentle manner to reduce the risk of injury.
