Mercedes-Benz vehicles are known for their luxury, performance, durability, and overall sophisticated engineering. Safety is another aspect of engineering that has long been associated with Mercedes-Benz, perhaps because the company has emphasized safety for decades, including a time when many other manufacturers rarely discussed it to avoid any implication that their products were unsafe. The focus on safety continues as Mercedes-Benz of Plano is proud to announce that Safe Kids Worldwide awarded Mercedes-Benz the Safe Kids Champion for Children Award.

Safe Kids Worldwide is a heartfelt nonprofit dedicated to protecting children aged 0-19 by working tirelessly to prevent accidental injuries. They team up with partners and over 400 coalitions across the U.S., aiming to reduce traffic accidents, drownings, sleep-related fatalities, falls, burns, poisonings, and other dangers. Discover more about their inspiring work at safekids.org. The award was presented at the Safe Kids Worldwide Childhood Injury Prevention Convention, commonly referred to as PrevCon. This is the largest gathering of safety professionals worldwide, dedicated solely to preventing childhood injuries.

Mercedes-Benz was recognized for positively impacting approximately 81,000 families by distributing over 43,000 safety devices, including car seats, helmets, reflective gear, and more, as well as sharing educational resources nationwide. This effort also included providing roughly 15,000 safety kits to children. Mercedes-Benz also collaborated with Scholastic, MBUSA, and Safe Kids Worldwide to launch the children’s book “Clifford Takes a Ride,” in which the large red dog, well known to children, embarks on a vehicle trip with his family, discussing several vehicle safety issues along the way. Over 30,000 free copies of Clifford Takes a Ride were distributed to children and families in 52 cities across 19 states.
