Cars.com recently had a chance to drive the AMG® GLC 63 S E Performance and characterized it by saying, “In theory, this is the ultimate do-everything vehicle for families in search of some sizzle in their sled; Mercedes finery, AMG® performance, decent fuel economy—I averaged 16.2 mpg over 251 aggressive miles, but it’s EPA-rated 20 mpg combined—and crossover utility.”
The Most Powerful Four-Cylinder Ever
The Mercedes-AMG® GLC 63 S E Performance features a hybrid system that adds power to the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. Without the hybrid system, the GLC 63 S E Performance is the most powerful four-cylinder ever put into a production car with 469 horsepower and 402 lb-ft of torque. However, once you add in the hybrid system, the AMG® GLC 63 S E Performance has a total output of 671 horsepower and 752 lb-ft of torque. Power is routed to the wheels via an AMG® SPEEDSHIFT® nine-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. When it comes time to impress your friends or show an electric vehicle who’s the boss, the AMG® will scoot to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds, according to MotorTrend.
There’s more to a Super SUV than just speed.
Going fast in a straight line is not all the GLC can do, though. Its 15.4-inch rotors in the front and 14.6-inch rotors in the rear could bring the moon to a halt. The 4MATIC+® all-wheel-drive system helps to keep things in check by having the ability to distribute power to any wheel (and front to rear) from 50/50 to 100% rear. That’s not the only handling trick up the sleeve of the AMG®. For 2025, Mercedes retuned the active dampers and added rear-wheel steering as well as active anti-roll bars for increased control when cornering.
Still Usable When You Need it to Be
An SUV can’t be about performance all day, though, because eventually you’ll need to get things from the store or pick up the kids and all of their stuff. With 21.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and 59.3 when they’re folded, the GLC offers ample room for furniture, weekend projects, sports equipment, and the like.
