The Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen, or G-Wagon, has always been one of the most special vehicles in the world. Since the German carmaker introduced it purely as a military do-all vehicle and later for civilians starting in 1979, the G-Class has always been defined as an SUV that could do it all without any limitations. Luxury, utility, off-roading—nothing was too much for the big Benz to handle.
A New Review by Motor1
In a recent review by Motor1, journalist Kyle Kinard found himself fully understanding that the Mercedes-AMG® G 63 is far and away the brand’s best automobile, saying, “Mercedes’s ‘The Best or Nothing’ credo sits atop the pile of automotive taglines. It’s an idea so concise and so attractive, it still lures me to the brand. This G 63 still speaks to that idea in an honest way ...”
A Hand-Built Engine
The 2025 AMG® G 63 is powered by a hand-built twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 with a mild hybrid system that produces 577 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque and is mated to the smooth and fast-shifting AMG® SPEEDSHIFT® nine-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The G 63 has a base MSRP of $188,580* and features permanent all-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer case.
A Word from Motor1
“But in 2025, the G 63 is the very best Mercedes-Benz has to offer. It feels of considerable substance and style, the type that used to drape the shoulders of any car that wore the three-pointed star. One time, a friend came by, poked her head in the G Wagen, and simply decreed, "It smells like money!"”
A Delightful Interior
Getting into the G 63, the driver and passenger will notice right away that no expense has been spared to offer the most luxurious ride with the latest suite of tech features, such as a 12-inch digital instrument cluster that is attached to the 12.3-inch infotainment display that offers the brilliant MBUX which uses artificial intelligence to help you just by saying, “Hey, Mercedes.” Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® are also standard, as is a Burmester®* premium sound system. Rear passengers can also have optional 11.3-inch touchscreens that will allow them to stream content and search the World Wide Web.
Towing Capacity
Unlike most luxury SUVs with a high-performance model, the Mercedes-AMG® G 63 is a phenomenal tow vehicle, capable of towing up to 7,716 lbs when properly equipped.
