American Mercedes-Benz customers now have access to more than 20,000 Tesla Supercharging stations across the country, dramatically improving their access to charging options. Existing customers will find that Tesla’s network is now compatible with the Mercedes me Charge service, and its stations will appear when searching for nearby charging options.
"By opening access to Tesla Superchargers in North America to our customers, we underline our commitment to providing our customers with as many charging options as possible,” said Franz Reiner, Chairman of the Board of Management, Mercedes-Benz Mobility AG.
“The fast-growing network of charging points available in Mercedes me Charge will now expand to over 110,000 public charging points across the United States and Canada, providing Mercedes-Benz drivers with an industry-leading charging experience whenever and wherever they choose to charge,” Reiner said.
Beginning this year, Mercedes-Benz will make the Tesla-compatible North American Charging Standard (NACS) ports standard across its U.S. EV lineup, but for the time being, existing customers may take advantage of the arrangement thanks to a new, Mercedes-Benz approved fast-charging adapter that is available at its authorized retailers for a modest fee of $185.
Once equipped, American Mercedes-Benz customers will be able to seamlessly charge at Tesla’s stations using the existing “Plug and Charge” functionality, adding the network to the existing infrastructure available via Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging, IONNA, Electrify America, EVGo, ChargePoint, and more.
Customers will be notified when adapters are available to purchase. This NACS to CCS1 adapter is the only adapter tested and certified for safety and compatibility with all Mercedes-Benz BEVs and any NACS DC fast charging point, Mercedes-Benz said.
"As our technologically advanced and highly compelling all-electric vehicle portfolio continues to grow, we recognize that a critical component for a seamless ownership experience for our customers is to ensure convenient access to a broad charging network,” said Dimitris Psillakis, CEO, Mercedes-Benz USA.
“Adopting the NACS standard in our electric vehicles and opening the Tesla Supercharger network to our battery electric vehicle customers represents an important step forward as we continue to build a strong foundation to bring additional, game-changing all-electric vehicles to the market.”
And if you vacation north of the border, there’s good news on that front, too. Mercedes-Benz has also reached the same agreement with Tesla in Canada, with Supercharger access expected to be granted later in 2025.
