The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has been a global success since its introduction to the European market in 1995 and the American market in 2001. No matter the size of the company, whether you need one Sprinter or a hundred, it fits the needs of companies perfectly. With the introduction of the all-electric eSprinter, Mercedes-Benz has provided an even greater range for fleet customers.
30 Years of Success
To celebrate 30 years of the Sprinter, Mercedes-Benz recently produced its five millionth model in its Charleston, SC, plant. The actual model produced was, in fact, an eSprinter that had its keys handed to FedEx for their evolving fleet. FedEx has also been one of the vans’ longest-served clients.
A Word from Mercedes-Benz
"The global production of five million Sprinter vans and the celebration of the model's 30th anniversary is a testament to its enduring success. This milestone reflects the dedication of our teams, the trust of our customers, and the continuous evolution of a vehicle that has defined the large van segment for three decades. We are proud of this legacy and excited for the future as we continue to drive progress in the van industry.” said Thomas Klein, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans.
A Word from FedEx
"As our network has evolved and grown over the years, vans from Mercedes-Benz, including the Sprinter and, now, the eSprinter, have been there to meet our needs and help us deliver the reliable and superior service that our customers expect," said Pat Donlon, Vice President, Global Vehicles, FedEx.
The Sprinter Production Facility
The North American Sprinter has been produced in the Mercedes-Benz Vans plant in Charleston, South Carolina (MBV Charleston), since its opening in 2006. In 2018, Mercedes-Benz revealed the third-generation Sprinter, which is currently on sale. With more than 1,600 employees and an investment of $50 million in 2024 to bring the eSprinter line of vans to the market, there is no company more dedicated to fleet vans for American companies.
eSprinter Models
The eSprinter is available in three different cargo van configurations that include an 81-kWh battery, a 144-inch wheelbase, and a standard roof, a high roof version with the 81-kWh battery and a 170-inch wheelbase, as well as a high roof with a 113-kWh battery that has a 170-inch wheelbase. Mercedes-Benz says that the standard battery models have a range of 204 miles, with the higher capacity model going 297 miles between charges. With a 115kW DC fast charger, the eSprinter can go from 10% to 80% battery in just 32 minutes for standard models and 42 minutes for high capacity models.
eSprinter Safety Features
All eSprinter models feature a 360-degree camera with 3D Surround View with Moving Off Information System, a Blind Spot Assist with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Exit Warning, and Sideguard Assist, Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC®, Traffic Sign Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Braking Assist with Cross-Traffic Function, and a Digital rear-view mirror.
