The convertible experience is the supreme way to drive across Texas. With the skies above, there is unlimited headroom for dreaming along the highway.

Over the years, aerodynamics has played a role in updating the convertible experience. Attention is also paid to occupant comfort while keeping the roof down to enhance the experience.

On the Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet, both the AIRSCARF® and AIRCAP® systems are a part of the experience. These two features were developed for maximum comfort, making open-top driving in cool weather more pleasant than ever.

When it comes to top-down driving, the wind creates a challenge in keeping comfortable. Wind can interfere with personal comfort, including listening to the content inside the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX). Sometimes, we may not want our hair flying around in the wind.

This is where the AIRSCARF® comes in. It produces a warm flow of air around the neck area of front-seat occupants. This works exceptionally well in windy conditions. However, some mornings start off cooler. If you are venturing out with the top down, you will feel how the AIRSCARF® will keep you warm and comfortable. Whether the windows are up or down, you will get the same effect.

In tandem with the AIRSCARF®, the AIRCAP® electric wind deflector system is deployed from above the windshield to direct airflow over occupants' heads. This works with an automatic wind deflector located behind the rear headrests.

Especially on windy days, you will notice how the AIRCAP® system works at its optimized state. Testing for this feature is done through a wind tunnel to engineer the best way to divert airflow from permeating into the cabin. Mercedes-Benz engineers and designers studied how to manage airflow and apply it to the final design of these features.

If you’d rather not deal with the wind, the acoustic soft top reduces wind and road noise thanks to a multi-layer structure with extensive insulation. The power-operated top opens or closes in as little as 20 seconds and can be operated at vehicle speeds up to 37 mph.

The beauty of convertible driving is the thrill of it all. Gone are the days of wind buffeting, high road noise volume, and moving to the side of the road to get the top up or down when the weather changes. The CLE Cabriolet changes all of that with the added benefit of safety, technology, and the patented feel of a Mercedes-Benz.

The CLE Cabriolet is an experience to be seen and driven. Contact us at Mercedes-Benz of Plano to experience the CLE Cabriolet – and Coupe - soon! You will understand why this is a better choice than the BMW – or any vehicle in its class.
