With the recent introduction of the new Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupe, replacing the outgoing C and E-Class coupes, Mercedes-AMG has engineered an AMG CLE 53 coupe as the range-topping model. AMG-Tuned
The Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 coupe is powered by an AMG-tuned 3.0-liter inline-6 turbocharged motor with an electric auxiliary compressor that produces 443 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque. A 48-volt integrated starter generator (ISG) helps to produce an extra 23 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque at lower speeds. The power is handled by an AMG SPEEDSHIFT® 9G 9-speed automatic transmission. The CLE 53 comes standard with an AMG-tuned 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system.
Super Car Balance
Like all AMG Mercedes-Benz models, the CLE 53 features a perfectly balanced suspension that not only gives drivers ultimate luxury, but also supercar levels of performance and control. Five AMG Dynamic Select drive modes will keep you enjoying your ride, whether it's around town, winding back roads, or on a long highway road trip. Select from Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Individual. The AMG Dynamic Select drive programs let you choose from Basic, Advanced, and Pro to allow the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) to be adjusted accordingly for optimal performance.
Ultimate AMG Suspension
AMG Ride Control suspension gives the AMG CLE the most traction and balanced handling in conjunction with the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system. The adaptive dampers are adjustable and can be placed in Comfort, Sport, and Sport+ modes with a true distinction between each driving style.
Balance And Poise
Contributing to the balanced handling and superb driving performance is the three-stage AMG speed-sensitive steering with standard rear-axle steering. At low speeds, the steering wheel does not have to move much to maneuver the CLE AMG in tight driving and parking situations. At higher speeds, the steering power assistance lessens. In Sport and Sport+ modes, the CLE 53 AMG Coupe is made to give the most amount of driving feedback to the steering wheel for drivers to know exactly what’s happening on the road beneath them. With the rear-axle steering system, the maximum steering angle is 2.5 degrees. At speeds up to 60 mph,. the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction of the fronts, which is also variable depending on which AMG Dynamics mode you have selected. When driving at speeds above 60 mph, the rear wheels will turn with the front wheels at up to 0.7 degrees, again being completely variable depending on the driving mode the vehicle is in. This allows a level of control and a shorter-feeling length in the CLE when driving in any situation.
Extra AMG
For drivers who want the maximum level of performance, the AMG CLE 53 is available with the AMG Dynamic Plus Package. This allows for an extra mode called Race on the AMG Dynamic Select, plus a Drift mode. The AMG CLE also has active engine mounts that allow the car to be further dialed into either better performance or more comfort. The AMG Performance steering wheel will come in microfiber, and red-painted brake calipers that feature AMG lettering on the front calipers help to show that the CLE 53 means business.
