If anyone was wondering if Maybach would follow Mercedes-Benz into battery-electric vehicles, here is your unequivocal answer. And a little surprise--When Maybach goes in, they go in big. With their first all-electric vehicle, it will be based on the largest EV crossover Mercedes-Benz makes. All of us at Mercedes-Benz of Plano are anxiously waiting to see this vehicle in person.
Exterior Maybach Cues

The available two-tone exterior is a trademark look for the Maybach brand, and it is executed beautifully on this model. The upper color encapsulates the cabin to flow across the hood before flowing down to create a backdrop for the vertical chrome slats that form the traditional Maybach face. Normally front and center, the Mercedes-Benz logo has returned to its traditional location as a hood ornament. Other Maybach styling traditions such as bright side window surrounds and chrome B-pillars, are duly present.
"Mercedes-Maybach customers expect the extraordinary, and we aim to exceed their high expectations. The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV unites our ambition to lead in digital and electric with our focus on the luxury segment. The very first all-electric vehicle from Mercedes-Maybach complements the best technologies from Mercedes-Benz with the extra comfort and individual details that are only available from Mercedes-Maybach."

Interior Maybach Opulence
Inside, the vehicle stays true to the Wilhelm Maybach principle: “What is good must also be beautiful.” The familiar Hyperscreen is present but with Maybach’s "zero layer" formatting in which 80% of the most common interactions can be performed without going into an application. Maybach-specific start-up animations appear on all three displays, and the exclusive overall visual appearance is in an elegant deep blue.
Ever mindful that Maybach owners often reside in the back, the rear passengers have the same access to infotainment, comfort, and even navigation control with two 11.6-inch displays on the backrests of the front seats. Included is the MBUX rear tablet, which can be used outside the vehicle as well as MBUX Interior Assist, which uses cameras to recognize the operating requests of the passengers from body and hand movements.

Quilted Nappa leather, with headrest pillows and matching lumbar pillows, choices of natural woods, and metal accents, all upgrade the interior from already high Mercedes-Benz standards. Maybach introduces a sustainable vegetable-leather tanning process that, for some colors, uses coffee bean shells as tanning agents. The leather itself may only be sourced from animals that are kept in a species-appropriate manner.
The Maybach EQS SUV seats four majestically. The front center console extends to the rear, where its wood finish matches that of the back of the front seats and between the rear seatbacks in a manner that effectively cocoons each rear passenger in a private luxurious environment. The rear seats feature the same ventilation, massage function, and neck and shoulder heating as the front seats, and calf massage is also available. With the Executive Rear Seat Package Plus, when the right rear passenger chooses a reclining position, the front passenger seat automatically moves forward to the chauffeur position. The interior includes four fast-charging USB-C ports and two HDMI interfaces so travelers can easily use their own digital devices. The center console can include two folding tables, a refrigerator compartment, and silver-plated champagne flutes.
Extensive Sound Deadening
?Crossovers are known to have a bit more interior noise than sedans, so extensive measures were taken to ensure interior quiet, particularly for rear passengers. Because the rear seatbacks are fixed, the luggage compartment cover is a transverse bulkhead fixed to the body, as you would see in a sedan. It effectively suppresses road noise by sealing the cargo area up to the lower edge of the rear window. The ability to disconnect the front motor when not needed also reduces cabin noise and vibration. Comprehensive acoustic laminated glass all around the cabin and subtle wind deflection details dampen wind noise. All this creates a perfect environment for the 15-speaker Burmester® 4D Surround Sound System which features a Dolby Atmos immersive audio experience that gives the music more space, clarity, and depth.
Also, keeping the exterior at a distance is AIRMATIC Air Suspension with continuously adjustable damping. For the DYNAMIC SELECT drive modes, the Mercedes-Benz “COMFORT” setting has been replaced with the MAYBACH driving program that is specifically designed to maximize the comfort of the rear passengers.
Oh, Right, the Mechanicals

With all the Maybach interior and exterior exclusives, it is almost easy to overlook the drivetrain that usually headlines other electric vehicle descriptions. The Maybach EQS 680 SUV is powered by two permanently excited synchronous motors producing a total of 649 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque. The motors are mounted front and rear for 4MATIC all-wheel drive and naturally provide the quiet, smooth, and transmission transition-free operation Mercedes-Benz goes to great pains to engineer out of conventional-powered Maybach models. 0-60 acceleration is estimated at 4.1 seconds, and the top speed is set at 130 mph. The manufacturer’s estimated range can be up to 372 miles. The approximately 400-volt architecture enables fast DC charging from 10 to 80% in 31 minutes.
Maybach did not announce when the EQS SUV 680 will be available for sale. When Mercedes-Benz of Plano knows, we will be sure to put a word out in this blog. You are also welcome to inquire with our sales professionals about any availability updates.
