How much range does it have?

While mileage can vary depending on driving habits and weather conditions, the EQS 580 4MATIC® has a range of 340 miles.

How much does it cost to charge?

This depends on where you are charging your vehicle. That being said, electricity does cost less than a tank of gasoline, so “filling” up your EV should save you some money when charging at home, especially.

How big is the EQS?

The EQS 580 4MATIC® is similar in size to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. It is 205.4” long, 83.7” wide with the mirrors unfolded, 59.5” tall, with a wheelbase of 126.4”. The S-Class is 208.2” long, 83” wide, 59.2” tall, with a wheelbase of 126.6”.

Is it All-Wheel Drive?

The EQS 580 comes standard with Mercedes-Benz’s world-class 4MATIC® all-wheel drive system.

Is there a tax credit for buying an electric Mercedes-Benz?

There is a tax credit for new EVs purchased in 2023 and beyond. You can check with a qualified tax professional, or consult the IRS website for federal tax information, as well as the Department of Energy’s website for information regarding the state you live in and what sort of tax benefits you can receive.

How long does it take to charge?

There are currently three types of charging.

  • Level 1 charging is any regular 110V outlet that you can plug into. This takes the longest to charge an electric vehicle as this is used for normal, common household items. Typically you will see about 3 miles of range for every hour of charge.

  • Level 2 charging is when you have installed a 240V outlet in your home to charge your car. Dryers and refrigerators use 240-volt outlets making this pretty easy for a qualified electrician to put in your garage. For home charging, you will usually see 17-20 miles of range for every hour you are plugged in. Most public charging stations are Level 2 systems, which can be found within downtown areas, public parking garages, some local parks, etc. Some are free, while others are not.

  • Level 3 charging is called DC Fast charging, and it is currently the fastest type of charging available for electric vehicles. More and more charging stations along roads and highways are DC fast chargers to help get you back on the road more quickly. These do cost money, and by using your phone or a credit card, you can pay at the machine, similar to how you would with paying at a gas pump.

With Level 1 charging, you are looking at a whole day or so to charge from 10% to 100%. Using a Level 2 charging station will take you from 10% to 100% in 11.25 hours. Level 3 DC Fast charging will charge from 10% to 80% in about 31 minutes.

How do I pay to charge my EQS when I’m not at home?

Some public charging stations are actually free. These can often be found at public parks, downtown areas that are offered for free by the local government of that city, and public universities and community colleges. Others that feature DC Fast charging will cost you money and can be paid for right on the specific machine you decide to use, similar to how you would pay at a gas pump. They will have credit card readers as well as the ability to communicate with your cell phone for Apple or Google Pay, or sometimes via an app.

Is it safe to charge my EQS at home?

While you can charge your vehicle with the standard 110V outlet, it is recommended that you purchase a suitable wallbox charging station and have a qualified professional electrician do the installation for you. The car and the charging system constantly communicate with each other, and instead of it immediately charging when you plug in your phone, the station and your vehicle “talk” to make sure it is safe to flow electricity through the charging line. It’s also safe to charge when it’s raining outside, as there are no exposed connections.
