Ewing Automotive Group, a collection of dealerships including Mercedes-Benz of Plano, Ewing Buick GMC, Ewing Subaru of Plano, and Ewing VinFast of Plano strategically situated amidst the bustling business corridors between the George Bush Turnpike and Highway 121, boasts a rich history steeped in family legacy and automotive excellence. At its helm stands Fin Ewing, III, serving as the President and Dealer/Operator of Ewing Automotive Group.
The tale of Ewing Automotive Group traces its roots back to 1940 when Fin’s grandfather, Bruton Orand, made a significant move from Waco to Dallas to assume management of Morris Buick. That pivotal year marked the inception of Orand Buick at 2128 Cedar Springs, nestled near downtown Dallas, a location now renowned as The Crescent. Little did Mr. Orand realize then that his venture would evolve into a thriving family enterprise spanning generations.
The early years posed formidable challenges, especially amidst the tumult of World War II, with scarce resources like tires and rationed fuel presenting unprecedented obstacles. Nonetheless, Mr. Orand’s steadfast commitment to customer service and unwavering integrity paved the path to prosperity.
Following Mr. Orand’s passing in 1961, his son-in-law, Finley Ewing, Jr., assumed leadership of the burgeoning business. Under his stewardship, ambitious plans for expansion took shape. In 1972, Autohaus, Inc. was established, securing the coveted Mercedes-Benz franchise. The subsequent years witnessed significant milestones, including the transition of Orand Buick to Ewing Buick in 1973, marking a new chapter in the family’s automotive legacy.
Amidst a landscape of growth and transformation, Fin Ewing, III, emerged as a pivotal figure in the family enterprise. Having been immersed in the business from a young age, he undertook various roles, from humble beginnings cleaning the coffee shop to eventually spearheading management at Ewing Buick Company in 1985.
The spirit of innovation and expansion continued to drive the Ewing family forward. In 1994, Ewing Buick Company acquired Don Carter Pontiac and GMC, marking a significant expansion. Subsequent relocations and facility upgrades underscored the commitment to enhancing customer experience and embracing evolving automotive trends.
In 2014, the next generation stepped into the fray as Finley, IV, Fin’s eldest son, joined Ewing Automotive Group. His tenure heralded a new era of technological integration and customer-centric practices aimed at elevating the dealership experience.
Ewing Automotive Group embarked on a path of expansion in October 2018, adding to its portfolio with the acquisition of Subaru of Plano, which was later rebranded as Ewing Subaru of Plano. Building upon this momentum, in 2024, Ewing Auto Group forged a partnership with VinFast, a distinguished Vietnamese manufacturer, culminating in the establishment of Ewing VinFast of Plano. This strategic collaboration reflects Ewing Automotive Group’s commitment to diversification and innovation in serving its customers and the automotive market.
As Ewing Automotive Group looks toward the future, the guiding principle established by Fin Ewing’s grandfather remains unwavering: prioritizing the customer above all else. With a steadfast commitment to excellence and a vision for continued growth, the Ewing family anticipates a future brimming with success and prosperity for generations to come.
