Performance

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV lineup starts with the EQS 400 4MATIC®, featuring dual motors that deliver a combined 355 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. That is good for a 0-60 time of 5.9 seconds. As the name suggests, the model features 4MATIC® all-wheel drive, with front and rear motors powering the front and rear axles, respectively. A 118-kWh battery supplies energy to the motors. According to the EPA, the 400 4MATIC® will travel 312 miles on a single charge.

There is no dedicated AMG® variant of the EQS SUV, so the 550 4MATIC® is the top dog, packing 536 combined horsepower (also from two motors) and 633 lb-ft of torque. It’ll achieve a 0-60 mph run in just 4.5 seconds and offers a total range of 317 miles. The EQS 550 can also be optioned with a Class II trailer hitch and is rated to tow up to 3,500 pounds.

Every EQS comes standard with an AIRMATIC® suspension and adaptive dampers, along with Dynamic Select drive modes, allowing drivers to optimize their SUV for comfort or performance. Those looking to cut corners will appreciate the standard 4.9-degree rear-axle steering, which not only enhances handling and stability at speed but also improves maneuverability in tight parking situations. For even more low-speed nimbleness, 10-degree rear steering is available on both models.

Exterior

The EQS SUV inherits its silhouette from the gasoline-powered Mercedes-Benz GLS, but the details are markedly different. The sharp edges have been softened to improve aerodynamic performance and efficiency. Beneath that optimization, however, the EQS remains a Mercedes-Benz, with premium components and features throughout, including LED exterior lighting.

The EQS 400 comes standard with 21-inch 5-spoke wheels, with an additional five 21-inch and one 22-inch wheel design available, including three from AMG®. The 550 comes standard with AMG®-Line styling, which includes a deeper front apron, flared side sills, and other details. It also comes standard with AMG® 21-inch wheels, with two optional 21-inch and one 22-inch wheel design, all from AMG®.

Like all of Mercedes-Benz’s flagship “S” models, the EQS SUV is offered in multiple MANUFAKTUR® finishes, including Patagonia Red Metallic in this instance — a new addition for 2026.

Interior

The interior is a masterclass in how to make technology beautiful and the sophisticated accessible. The dash features the Hyperscreen, a full-width glass panel that extends downward in the center, through which multiple digital displays emerge, including one for the front passenger. HVAC vents subtly line the top of the glass panel. The cabin can be appointed in various combinations of leather, wood, aluminum, and carbon fiber. The EQS 550 features standard Nappa leather. MANUFAKTUR® interior options are available across the model line.

Of course, the comfort options don’t end there. The Exclusive package adds an in-cabin fragrance system, while the Pinnacle package upgrades the second-row armrests and headrests and adds a dedicated MBUX tablet for rear-seat passengers. Energizing Air Control Plus with HEPA filtration is now included in the Exclusive and Pinnacle packages.

The EQS SUV’s back seat is spacious and as generously outfitted as the front. It includes upgrades such as heated seats, four-zone climate control, and MBUX Rear Seat Entertainment. The EQS offers 22.7 cubic feet of cargo space (or 31 cubic feet with the optional third row folded). If you fold both rear rows, the cargo area expands to 74 cubic feet.

Technology

The EQS is packed with tech that there’s far too much to list here. Powered by the MBUX operating system, the Hyperscreen can be controlled via wheel controls, voice commands, or the touchscreens themselves. There’s also a HUD available as an upgrade with an Augmented Reality package, which adds navigation and other system overlays. Even apart from its show-stopping gadgets, the EQS offers numerous connectivity options, including Wireless Android Auto™, Apple CarPlay®, and wireless device charging.

Safety and Driver Assistance

Mercedes-Benz has long been a leader in passenger safety. The EQS SUV continues this tradition with a comprehensive set of standard safety features. Niceties such as DISTRONIC® adaptive cruise control, Active Emergency Stop Assist, and Active Blind Spot Assist are included with every EQS you buy.
