Performance
The 2026 EQS 450+ Sedan features a single Permanently Excited Synchronous electric motor with 355 horsepower and 419 pound-feet of torque. This drive system is powered by a new 118-kWh battery (with updated cells for increased electric range) offering a 352-mile EPA-estimated range. Starting with the 2026 models, you can also use the NACS port at charging stations with the EQS Sedan’s standard adapter.
The 2026 EQS 450 4MATIC® runs dual Permanently Excited Synchronous electric motors with a combined 355 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. It draws energy from the same 118-kWh battery. This system has an EPA-estimated range of 345 miles.
Choosing the 2026 EQS 580 4MATIC® gives you dual Permanently Excited Synchronous Electric motors, now putting down 536 horsepower and 633 pound-feet of torque combined. This system has an EPA-estimated range of 345 miles, with energy coming from a 118-kWh battery.
The 4MATIC® all-wheel-drive system on the two-motor EQS Sedan is optimized to handle more power at either axle and to better distribute power between the axles, resulting in better driving dynamics overall. The fully variable, electro-specific system can adapt in fractions of a second. Braking is done through an advanced regenerative system that sends energy back into the battery pack.
Exterior
The 2026 EQS Sedan is shaped by the wind. A compelling design shows the long wheelbase, with an A-pillar angled to reveal a lower roofline that elegantly and sportingly flows straight back to the rear deck.
This is an advanced version of the Mercedes-Benz brand’s current design language called Sensual Purity. With this Sensual Purity, you get a sculpted style defined by its long, flowing surfaces and seamless transitions between body panels. When looking at the 2026 EQS Sedan, it feels naturally athletic with its traditional-looking front end leading to comparisons with a shark nose. The solid grille panel is elegant and tasteful, and the sleek roofline and rear deck on all 2026 EQS Sedan models create a mature, muscular look.
The rear hatchback offers expansive cargo space. It is a convenient way to load luggage or a day’s worth of shopping.
Interior
With luxuries like supple upholstery and fine carpeting, the EQS Sedan has a cabin fit for an S-Class sedan. The seats are adorned with fine details, with logical, tactile controls throughout. The customizable 12.3-inch instrument cluster is one of three Hyperscreens. There are new standard front headrest pillows, upgraded rear seat cushions, and a center airbag between the front seats.
Technology
The Mercedes-Benz User Experience comes to life across the Hyperscreen system. Three screens comprise this vast array of information and infotainment. In the middle is a 17.7-inch OLED touchscreen that is a hub for all MBUX functions. The front passenger also has a 12.3-inch screen that emulates plenty of information and entertainment options available to the driver. The 2026 EQS Sedan is equipped with the Burmester®* 3D surround sound system with EV sound. It takes the immersive audio experience to a new level.
Safety
The 2026 EQS arrives standard with ATTENTION ASSIST®, which includes:
- Active Brake Assist
- Active Lane Keeping Assist
- Speed Limit Assist
- Parking package with a backup camera
Optional as a package is the Driver Assistance Package with extended functionality:
- Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC® – This system not only keeps your vehicle at a certain distance while using cruise control, but it can also react to stationary vehicles, automatically restart if you come to a complete stop, and be set up to 130 mph.
- Intersection Approach Function – Helps keep you aware of cross traffic and the direction it is coming from. If you attempt to pull into traffic, a warning is given, and the vehicle applies the brakes. You can cancel this by pressing the gas pedal.
- Active Steering Assist – This feature will help steer when the vehicle is able to trace the lanes on the road, allowing you to rest your hands on the steering wheel.
- Active Lane Change Assist – Assists in changing lanes for you when you use the turn signal stalk to direct a lane change. It will not work, however, if it detects a solid line for the lane you are trying to go into.
- Active Emergency Stop Assist – When traveling above 37 mph, the car will monitor if the driver is paying attention and alert. If the driver is no longer placing their hands on the wheel, the car will come to a complete stop and put its hazards on. At this point, the doors will be unlocked, and the vehicle assistant will immediately call for help with the Mercedes-Benz Emergency Call.
- Active Brake Assist – Using sensors, the Mercedes-Benz will assist the driver in an emergency stop if it detects that a crash is imminent.
- Avoidance Steering Assistant – At up to 68 mph, the car can help the driver avoid crashing into other cars, people, and bicyclists.
- Active Lane Keeping Assist – Available from 37 mph and faster, this monitors lane markings to help keep you in the lane. If there is a potential for a crash, the vehicle can help steer out of the situation and will alert the driver visually and audibly.
- Active Blind Spot Assist – Provides visual and audible warnings to the driver if the vehicle starts to leave its current lane without signaling, or if signaling is present but there is something in the blind spot. If you are stationary, the system can still alert you to something coming up next to you when you open your door.
- PRESAFE® PLUS – If the vehicle senses a rear-end collision is imminent, it will pre-fire the seat belt tensioners to help brace for the incoming impact. If you are stationary and the sensors detect a potential crash, it locks the brakes to minimize the vehicle’s forward movement when impacted. This helps to ensure less damage to other vehicles and reduces whiplash for occupants.
- PRESAFE® Impulse Side – If a side collision is detected, the car will inflate air chambers in the side bolsters of the front seats to push the driver or passenger toward the middle of the vehicle before the side impact occurs. Mercedes-Benz says these will immediately deploy within fractions of a second before the side of the vehicle is impacted.
